Abstract

This study has aimed to design a knowledge management model by the Grounded Theory approach based on effective local factors. An exploratory qualitative study by way of the Grounded Theory approach has been applied to carry out the research. The research participants include all knowledgeable people of KM field in the East Azerbaijan Basij Organization.  The sample size includes 31 people and has been determined using the purposeful sampling method and reaching the theoretical saturation. In‐depth, semi‐structured interviews have been applied to gather research data. A systematic approach of grounded theory has been used for data analysis by using MAXQDA software. Based on the grounded theory approch; the expressions extracted from the interviews are specific to the Basij organization environment and derived from the Basij culture and thinking, have been summarized in 230 main codes and 70 categories and 27 axes have been identified in the axial coding. In the visual display stage, the model was designed into six categories according to a paradigm model with the classification of key codes. The reliability of the interviews was ascertained through credibility, transferability, dependability, confirmability. Based on research result, the concepts proposed in causal conditions lead to create and develop a pivotal phenomenon or category, namely the general participation of Basij members in knowledge management processes. Moreover the contextual and intervening conditions with effects on the actions and interactions, lead to the KM appropriate implementation processes and the realization of consequences and value creation namely divine insight, spiritual development and transformation to a prominent and knowledge-creating organization, as well as increasing productivity, promoting the morales of scientific 'jihad' and helping people, enhancing public trust on Basij and national pride and disappointment for the enemies.
